{Monthly Challenge} close-up portraiture

I’ve joined an amazing group of women photographers for another personal project. If you’ve been following along, you’ll know this is one of three groups I’m part of this year, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. This group is focused on pushing ourselves artistically, creatively and technically with monthly challenges. Each month, we’ll be posting our interpretation of a type of photography or technique and will link to each others’ blogs, creating a circle of images on which to feast your eyes (we hope). We’re kicking off the year with close-up portraiture.

I love getting in close and I love details. This is why I have a crush on my macro lens. I adore it. So I was excited for this month’s challenge. As part of my 365 work (yes, another personal project of mine), I have already posted some close-up portraits of my daughter, so I wanted to try something a little different for this challenge. These are my babies, asleep, at 6 and almost 4, in two pictures I put together as one.

Make sure to continue through the circle, starting with the super talented Meredith Novario. You won’t want to miss seeing her beautiful work!

  1. Even though they are still there’s a feeling of motion. Maybe listening to music and swaying kind of movement. But because it is still I get to enjoy the beauty in each of their features. ❤

  2. Ohhhhhh, this is really beautiful! I, too, love how you’ve combined them in one – it’s given it such a peaceful feeling. They look so incredibly similar I’m not sure I would’ve guessed it was two children unless you told me. So well done, Davina!
